Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans...

Today is the 29th anniversary of John Lennon's murder. Whenever I think of John Lennon I think of the potential of humans - how we are capable of creating art that is incredibly beautiful and pure, and at the same time capable of incredible evil.

RIP John.

The Doctor

The Final Days of the 10th Doctor

So the final three episodes of Doctor who starring David Tennant as the titular character will air in December and the first part of January. Waters of Mars airs December 19th, Then the two part finale The End of Time airs on December 26th and January 2nd.

To say that I am not happy about this would be an understatement. My love for David Tenant's Doctor knows no bounds. It's really more of an obsession than a love. And the new guy Matt Smith looks like a doof. We shall see, but I can say that my level of excitement for new content will certainly be much lower than in the past.

Still I'm excited to see what happens to my favorite Doctor - I hope he goes out well. And we still have AlternaDoctor living with Rose who could pop up later. Long shot, but one can dream.

Ritual Sacrifice - with pie.

So I had a good thanksgiving. Jess and I drove to Phoenix to visit Vivapink and her family. We are having a fantastic time. Getting ready to leave and go have Sushi and possibly see New Moon again (third time for me and Jess, first time for Vivapink). I am thinking Vivapink will not like it as much as Jess and I do - oh well.

Just got finished watching seasons 2 and 3 of The Guild. Felicia Day is super adorable and Wil Wheaton is kinda sexy in a geeky douchebag kind of way.

Not looking forward to the drive back to Oklahoma - there might be bad weather on the way.

I have been feeling ill the last couple of days. Not really sick, but not really well either. I feel like I have a fever but i don't - it's actually reall annoying. Thinking of working from home tomorrow.

Suspicious

NASA has apparently "lost" the original footage of the moon landing. Did they lose it or was there never any footage to begin with? You decide.

Tiki Island Day 8

Yesterday was the 4th of July and - well lets just say it was cheat on the diet day so we had a little too much to drink. It was a blast though and I feel pretty good this morning all things considered. I only gained back half a pound which is pretty good. Back on the diet wagon today. Goal for next week is at least 5 pounds.

Am thinking of maybe going to a movie this afternoon.

Tiki Island Day 6

It feels like Saturday. Most of our clients are closed today so email has been really quiet. Went today and bought a new charger for my personal cell (the old one got stolen along with a bunch of other stuff). Found out i am eligible for an upgrade on 9/11. Am seriously considering getting an iPhone. I guess it depends on if I have the money by then.

My goal is to have lost 4.5 pounds by Monday morning - and if I am successful in keeping that up the rest of the time I am here I should meet my goal of 20 pound lost. It will be the smallest amount I've weighed in about 8 years.

Haven't done much tv watching here - too busy and there are kids here.

Ready for the workday to be over.

Tiki Island Day 5

Had a pretty good day today. Lost 1/2 a pound since yesterday for a total of 3 pounds. Am hoping that we won't have to work too much tomorrow.

Last night Garrett (my boss' baby) woke up and screamed bloody murder for like 30 minutes. It sounded like he was being beaten. I felt bad for Beth.

Looking forward to the weekend.

Tiki Island Day 4

I had the most delicious salad today for lunch. I created it out of what was in the kitchen: Spinach, leftover pork chop pieces (cold), cheese, dried cranberries, and blue cheese dressing. It was heavenly - and totally within the rules of my diet. Beth (better known as the "diet nazi" was very proud.

Had kind of a bad afternoon - very stressful. At one point i was so mad that I almost started crying.

Can't wait for this weekend when I can actually relax and have some fun (hopefully).

I have lost 2.5 lbs so far.

Tiki Island Day 3

It is really beautiful here, but kind of dirty at the same time. It reminds me of Key West. Yesterday was kind of stressful - i don't know why but i am really stressed by working in a different environment - I'm sure I'll get used to it. We had pork chops, broccoli, fresh scallops, and whole grain rice for dinner last night. It was phenominal.

Today is even more stressful - it seems like everytime I am about to work on something I get a phone call and have to switch gears. I hate that.

It's almost time for lunch. I'm starving.

1st Day at Tiki Island

Let me just start by saying - the drive from Dallas to Tiki is the longest drive ever. What's funny is I've driven further distance-wise. McLoud to Orlando for instance. But I am so exhausted after the drive today. It might have been because I was following people and had to constantly be paying attention so that I could keep up.

The house we are staying in is really nice - five bedrooms with and elevator - though we aren't actually supposed to use that. The caretaker is living up on the 4th floor and, so that he doesn't creep us out and invade our space, he and his son are using the elevator to get out of the house. Since the elevator doesn't work unless all the doors are closed, he asked that we not use it unless loading/unloading heave stuff. He's afraid one of the kids will forget to close the door and then he and his son will be stuck up there.

It is extremely humid here. It reminds me a lot of Florida actually - though not as pretty, imo.

I'm staying here with several kids and a baby - so that's going to be interesting. I'm really not used to dealing with kids on a regular basis - especially not pre-teen girls.

Us adults are doing a bootcamp like diet where we don't eat carbs for two weeks - my plan is to lose 20 lbs in five weeks. Crossing my fingers.

Bloody HELL!!

There is talk of a Buffy Movie in the works - good news right? Nope - it will be a Buffy "reboot" and will not have any of the original characters and Joss will probably not be involved.

Seriously?

Right now

I am reading Killing Yourself to Live: 85% of a true story by Chuck Klosterman. Mr. Klosterman is going to be at the University of Oklahoma next week give a lecture of some kind. Jessica and I are going.

This book is going to be in my top 10 of all time I can tell, just like Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs is.

Last night I purchsed two Dr. Who Soundtracks. I will probably listen to them in their entirety once and then just listen to the Dr. Who theme song over and over again. Because it makes me happy.

Jessica and I now have BBCAmerica which we shall watch obsessively because we love British television. Also we can now watch the new season of Torchwood when it comes on sometime this year.

Tomorrow is the Death Cab for Cutie concert in Tulsa. I could not be more excited. Yesterday Jessica and I were watching The OC and the song Soul Meets body came on and I said "Dude, tomorrow night we'll be hearing this song - LIVE"

And then we squeee'd.
